Natural Gas Measurement Station SCADA Application
Filyos Natural Gas Station — reliable measurement system with redundant SCADA and redundant network architecture.
Technical Specifications
The SCADA application developed for Filyos Natural Gas Measurement Station ensures uninterrupted operation with redundant inSCADA and redundant network architecture. It manages a large-scale automation system with a 10,000 I/O license.
The inSCADA Gas solution is used in the SCADA systems of more than 50 natural gas pressure reduction and measurement stations in the gas sector.
The application, which works compatibly with existing control systems through DCS integration, provides powerful tools for automatic reporting and analysis of gas measurement data.

Communication Network Topology
The Filyos Natural Gas Measurement Station utilizes Elster flow computers configured for both orifice and ultrasonic measurement principles. Each measurement line features a redundant flow computer system (Pay and Check) to maximize measurement reliability. Redundant gas chromatographs, water dew point and H₂S analyzers are integrated to support measurement accuracy. The communication infrastructure employs Ethernet switches and serial terminal servers. Flow computers communicate through both Ethernet and serial ports, creating a network redundancy architecture. When inSCADA detects a disruption in the active communication channel, it automatically checks the alternative channel and continues receiving data through the operational path. This transition between Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU protocols occurs seamlessly — ensuring uninterrupted data flow without operator intervention. All critical system components — communication switches, SCADA servers and database — are configured with redundancy. Real-time monitoring, alarm management and reporting across 10,000 I/O points are performed from the central SCADA screens.
inSCADA Network Redundancy
inSCADA Network Redundancy — inSCADA can simultaneously manage multiple communication channels when communicating with field devices. When a disruption or communication error occurs on the active channel, the system automatically switches to an alternative communication port. This capability works across different physical connections such as Ethernet and serial ports, or between different protocols like Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU. inSCADA refers to this feature as "Network Redundancy". Technical Note: This operation requires only a single device and tag/variable definition in the inSCADA Platform. inSCADA determines which channel to communicate through at runtime within seconds and continues without interruption.
Redundant Architecture
Both the SCADA software and the network infrastructure operate in redundant mode, ensuring uninterrupted operation.
